California/ Wyatt's Edition

 Entry #4 California - Oct /2023

In California we went to the Redwood National Park. At the park there was very few people, which made it easy to run around and explore. When we were there, Gibson and I were climbing on all the huge trees. Dad took eight little seeds when we were there because he wants to plant them at home. The trees there are so huge and I don’t think I will ever get to see a tree that tall ever again. The trail we walked was called Simpson Grove.

Another spot that we stopped at within the park was Klamath campground. At Klamath campground we met some new friends. While we were there, we went to the beach and got to see some seals and pelicans. At the beach our new friends and us were jumping off of rocks and all the driftwood that had washed up on shore. The new family that we met was a family of seven. All of their names were, Scarlett, Jack, Wyatt, Lily, and Daniel and the parent’s names were Ben and Nicole. The next day mom wanted to go back to the beach, so we went back again. The reason mom wanted to go back was because she found out that you can make art with yarn and driftwood. Later that evening mom, wanted to go back to the beach for a third time to get more driftwood. The next morning mom and dad went to the beach AGAIN TO GET EVEN MORE DRIFTWOOD.  That night we played a game with our friends where Jack had a red laser and you had to dodge it because if you didn’t, you would die in the game. The next morning we said our goodbyes to our new friends and left, but I wish we could have stayed one more day.

Lake Tahoe was our next destination. At Lake Tahoe we stayed at Sugar Pine Campground. We stayed there for four nights. While we were there we did some mountain biking. The first time we went biking, it was just me and dad, because Gibson had a hurt neck and mom was cleaning the motorhome. When dad and I went mountain biking we had to climb up a big hill on our bikes. Once up, it wasn’t so bad. Dad and I rode two blues and one black diamond trail. The black was easier than the blues because it was not bumpy and it was a faster rolling trail. That night we had a big fire. At Sugar Pine, Gibson and I wittled knives out of wood. The knives that we made got put on the fire to darken. Gibson and I asked for a pan to use on the fire and dad said yes, so we got a pan and filled it with water and put it on the fire to see if it would bubble. Gibson and I were able to get it to bubble. When it started to bubble Gibson and I would put some of the stuff that we wittled into the bubbling water. Then we would let it smoke outside of the pan to dry and then put it back into the bubbling water. Gibson and I both love playing with fire.

The second time we went mountain biking, Gibson came, but mom wanted to stay home, so she stayed home and had a nap. The bike ride started out with nice weather, but turned into a snow storm. When we got back mom opened her window and said she was so sorry for sending us out to bike in the snow. While the snow/hail was coming down, we watched some movies, and the next morning we left our campground.

The last stop we made in California was Yosemite. In Yosemite we saw El Captain. If you haven’t watched Free Solo you should because then you will know why it is so fascinating to see. I loved California and I hope to visit again.
