After my visit in Canada, these are some places I want to talk about, the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum, the White Sands National Park in New Mexico, and Brazos Bend State Park in Texas. The first place I visited was the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum. I went to the museum and it was so cool.  There were so many animals there like: a cougar, wolves, javelina, rattle snakes, lizards and other wildlife too. There was a bobcat that was pretty cute but he could  probably kill you. There was an ocelot and he was kind of shy.  When everybody left, but us, he came out of his hiding spot. There was a spot where there were no animals and you could learn about rocks, diamonds, stone formations and stuff like that. There was a lot of fun things to do at that museum.  So far it was one of my favourite museums on this trip.

After I went to the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum I went to the White Sands National Park. The sand was white like snow, and it reflected the sun off so it kept it cool. It was so amazing because I have never seen anything like it.

After New Mexico we drove to Texas. My favorite Texas state park was Brazos Bend. It is so cool because you can see real alligators with babies close up to you. It’s one of the coolest things I have ever seen. The Spillway Trail is a good place to see alligators, but they blend in pretty good so you need to look harder if you haven’t found any. Alligators are suprisingly pretty still, compared to us humans.

Going forward I would like to see New York. I want to see what it looks like at night when it’s all lit up. I also want to see how busy the streets are.  I just want to see New York.  I am super happy my parents are going to make it happen. I will tell you all about it once I have been there.

The Deep South

      As I mentioned briefly in the last blog, the last few days in Texas we hit up Houston. We took the longer scenic drive towards Galveston, and spent the night on the beach in Seaside before making it to Houston the following day. The drive was so beautiful, aside from the brown water in the ocean. Also, it was way more built up than the Baja. Here, all the houses are on stilts. That sure was a surprise to see. I did love how colorful they all were! I heard from a local that Galveston used to be the biggest city on the east coast way back, and then it was hammered by a storm that flooded it, causing major damage. Since then, they have raised all of Galveston 12 feet, put all the houses up on stilts (building code) and built an extensive sea wall. If anything, the US people will not back down and move their location. They will adapt! I think mother nature always wins, and because of that, this is not a place I would live. But, who am I say. East Coast Highlights

  Has anyone read Braiding Sweetgrass ? This book has made a profound impact on me, and has me itching to get home and plant my garden. Like, I want to turn around and head home now. It makes me feel all the feels. I feel that Summerland is my place and it speaks to me.   I love my village there, and appreciate everyone in it. If you have nothing to do, and are looking for a soul searching read, pick this up! It won’t disappoint.   We are now here in North Carolina, filling Wyatt’s bucket with some bike riding on trails, and also, a certain park he has watched YouTube videos on. It was pretty fun for him to get to ride the trails he knew about, and actually see them in person. Wish we had more time to fill his cup, but we are on a mission and only have less than 6 weeks to get home!  We are staying near Asheville NC, at Powhatan National Forest. Final Entry

And Then There Was One More. New addition Okay, so most of you already know what I am about to write about,  ‘cause if I have a good secret, I can’t keep it very long. So, we were leaving NY State and headed thru Michigan, where we picked up our newest family member, Fern. We actually bought her 3 weeks prior, and picked her out from a litter of 9 puppies. We wanted a female, and not a tan color like our first fur baby, Bailey. So that left chocolate and black. We video chatted and picked the orange color (they each had a different colored collar), which Wyatt promply named Fern. We decided as a family to keep her a secret until we actually got her. What a LONG 3 weeks. We requested pictures and video every 2-3 days which probably drove Tracey, at BT Bloodhounds, nuts, but she complied, and helped us to get to know her. She fits in so well!   The kids were very adamant that they could be responsible and look after a dog. 4 days in,  and they have lost the drive....
